Role Overview:

The new Managing Director will be an inspirational leader with strong executive presence and prior experience running an accelerator, venture fund and/or successful start-up. They must be commercially oriented with a proven ability to tell the Pronghorn story with impact. 

The Managing Director will also have previous experience with fundraising and/or engaging high net worth individuals, family offices, venture capital, private equity and corporate executives. 

They will be a seasoned operator and general manager, with proven ability to build the necessary infrastructure to scale a well-funded yet new business venture. This individual must be able to bring varying backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives together to achieve Pronghorn’s mission.

Specifically, the new Managing Director will be a visionary who brings a fresh perspective to the industry and to the business. They will foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and winning, as well as a culture where Pronghorn employees are energized to come to work every day and give their best in service of Pronghorns’ mission. 

Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Change agent & culture champion: Foster an entrepreneurial, can-do culture reflective of a start-up environment. Break down barriers, foster creativity, and challenge the status quo. 
  • Strategic planning: Lead the development and execution of the strategic planning process for all aspects of the business. Optimize the go to market strategy, identifying “where to play” and “how to win” over the next 10 years. 
  • Cultivate entrepreneurs: Build and maintain a strong pipeline of diverse founders and entrepreneurs to ensure acceleration in innovation and competitiveness within the industry. 
  • Fiscal management: Oversee more than $100MM in assets under management (AUM), ensuring that funds are appropriately allocated and invested to deliver the greatest return.
  • Talent management: Own the talent strategy for the business to ensure the organization has the right people in the right roles to deliver short- and long-term operating plans. 
Professional Experience/Qualifications:
The ideal Managing Director will have the following professional experience:
 
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree is required; MBA is preferred.
  • Transformational Leader: Track record of disrupting and reinventing to stay ahead of the market, given the pace of change, shifting customer and consumer needs and new competitive threats.  Purpose-driven and leads with courage and passion.
  • P&L / Budget Management: Proven ability to manage a P&L and/or operating budget to effectively drive and enhance financial performance and operational discipline. 
  • Excellent Communicator: Experience serving as an organizational ambassador and public spokesperson, where effective storytelling is required with key stakeholders in 1:1 settings and through media and large events. 
  • Talent Magnet: A track record as a strong people leader who not only attracts but develops, supports and promotes others. Must be and be seen as an inspirational and engaging leader capable of motivating an organization to exceed its potential.  
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience connecting and influencing broadly across multiple stakeholders. Credibility and ability to gain access to high-net-worth individuals, family offices, venture capital funds, private equity and c-suite executives within Fortune 1000 companies. Has C-Suite experience, stature and presence.

  • Persuasive leader: Capable of influencing broad stakeholder groups, with the ability to navigate and manage competing business priorities and timelines.
