
The Stitzel Weller Site Director is responsible for providing leadership and strategic guidance to a dedicated team of bottling and maturing experts. This is a proactive role, whose purpose is to lead safely and efficiently all aspects of bottling, warehousing, supply chain, innovation, change management and investment.
The Stitzel Weller site contains a Processing and Blending Department, 19 Maturing Warehouses (storage of approx. 350k barrels) and a Bottling Department (approx. 1.5 Million Cases/yr.).
The successful candidate will provide leadership to a minimum of 4 direct reports with an overall site headcount ranging from 50-60 individuals, over a 2x8 hour shift/5-day operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing, continuous development of the team and will play a strong coaching role for individuals and their development.
Stitzel Weller is currently, driving towards Manufacturing Excellence and has been on this journey for over three years and this role will be pivotal in ensuring that we continue to accelerate our performance to be a benchmark Supply organization. This position reports to the VP of Distillation and Maturation.

Key Accountabilities
- Drive site towards benchmark performance in safety, compliance, quality and environmental sustainability.
- Display excellent leadership with strong communication skills and the ability to influence key partners.
- Drive a strong engagement platform that supports a continuous improvement culture.
- Deliver site strategy including annual operating plans to ensure long term supply of the highest quality American whiskies and bourbons.
- Build relationships and maintain effective partnerships with Marketing, Engineering, Finance, Governance, Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing Excellence, Statutory Regulators and outside agencies.
- Set objectives and performance standards (critical metrics) for all departments across the site.
- Lead improvements in productivity and efficiency through application of best in class practice benchmarking, new systems and technologies.
- Through partnership and technical leadership continue to grow and empower site teams to deliver excellence in manufacturing and supply.
- Successfully grow talent and leadership capability to deliver performance goals.
- Ensure the effective implementation of all innovations, special projects, etc.
- Responsible for delivering multi-million-dollar budget on track year on year.
- Ensure all management responsibilities are performed in accordance with Global Diageo, North America Supply, local policies and all applicable laws.
- Ensure excellent relationship with Visitor Center at Stitzel-Weller. Provide guidance to Visitor Center staff, North American Brand Teams and Innovation as required.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- An engineering, science or relevant technical Degree is preferred with 5+ years’ manufacturing leadership experience.
- Must have demonstrated people leadership capabilities.
- Effective influencer and communicator and able to set out strategy and aspirations that others will follow and support.
- End to end P&L experience is a plus.
- Advanced practitioner of continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, Lean, and Kaizen is preferred.
- Must have ability to distill out complex business issues, provide logical, compelling and clear plans for action.
- Skills and ability to lead and influence organizational change, strong thought leadership.
- High level of regulatory and technical expertise.
- Experience in a Unionized environment
