Total Wine & More is seeking a Senior Manager, DevOps to join our Technology team in our Bethesda, MD office. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our DevOps strategy. Leading a team of skilled engineers, you will provide hands-on technical oversight while managing the operational aspects of our production environments and back-office systems. You will define and drive the vision for DevOps at Total Wine & More, focusing on infrastructure architecture, automation, security, documentation, and 24/7 monitoring. This role reports to the Lead Principal Architect of Engineering.

You will
  • Architect & Optimize Infrastructure - Design scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud environments across Web, App, Mobile, and Core Systems, ensuring efficient release management processes.
  • Automate & Enhance CI/CD Pipelines - Develop and maintain CI/CD workflows (Jenkins Pipelines), optimizing automation for seamless deployments.
  • Lead Kubernetes-Based Deployments - With 90% of our workloads running in Kubernetes, strong expertise in Kubernetes orchestration, scaling, troubleshooting, and Helm for managing deployments is required.
  • Manage Cloud & System Operations - Administer and maintain Linux and Windows environments across Azure & GCP, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Collaborate with Development & Product Teams - Guide teams on best practices for designing cloud-native applications, balancing performance, security, business continuity, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Implement Security Best Practices - Enforce security policies and compliance standards, working with vendors and partners on security assessments and certifications.
  • Ensure Monitoring & System Integrity - Oversee proactive monitoring of production and non-production environments, maintaining high availability and technical infrastructure health.
  • Lead & Mentor the DevOps Team - Manage team members, prioritize work backlogs, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Embed Automation & Process Efficiency - Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline DevOps processes and reduce manual operational tasks.
  • Maintain DevOps Systems & Security - Ensure all DevOps systems are regularly updated, mitigating security risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Participate in Agile Development - Engage in Scrum ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, grooming) to align DevOps efforts with broader engineering objectives.

You will come with
  • BS or degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years' experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, Middleware or Database Technology.
  • 5+ years' experience leading teams in software or infrastructure delivery.
  • 2+ years of experience with Azure DevOps and GCP DevOps
  • 4+ years of experience working in a DevOps and Cloud Engineering environment.
  • 3+ years of experience managing large-scale, distributed applications in cloud environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability.

Total Wine & More considers several factors when establishing compensation. Estimated salaries determined by third parties have not been validated by Total Wine & More. The exempt compensation range for this position is $172,300 - $241,200. Compensation may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills and/or experience.
