Which company will you join?

From Arthur Guinness to Johnnie Walker, our business was founded on people of outstanding character, and in 250 years, nothing has changed. We're the world's leading premium alcohol company! Our brands are industry icons including Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, Bulleit and Buchanan's whiskies, Smirnoff, Cîroc and Ketel One vodkas, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Don Julio, Tanqueray and Guinness. Our success is thanks to the strength of our people, in every role. It's why we trust them with our legacy and why we reward them with the career-defining opportunities that they deserve. Our ambition is to build the best performing, most trusted and respected Consumer Products Company in the world. To achieve these, we need the very best people!

At Diageo, our purpose is to celebrate life everywhere, every day. To do that, you will join an organization that is passionate about customers and consumers, and proud of what they do. Diageo teams constantly set high goals and then try hard to exceed them. We are also an incredibly diverse organization, and we value each and every one's talent and personality.

Role Dimensions

The Business Integrity team promotes and protects Diageo's Spirit of Integrity through the design, implementation and monitoring of an effective, risk based, agile and future forward ethics and compliance program. The program is focused on bringing to life our overall performance ambition and must also meet, at a minimum, the best practice standards benchmarked against UK, US and local legislation. This includes maintaining and embedding our Code of Business Conduct (the Code) and an appropriate framework of policies and standards that support the Code; developing appropriate principles-based engagement and ensuring delivery of training to support the application of the Code and policies; investigating and responding to potential breaches of the Code and policies; assessing how to minimize compliance risks; and ensuring employees are aware of and feel comfortable using our whistleblowing channels.

Ethical behavior ('doing business the right way from grain to glass') is increasingly synonymous with a company's overall sustainability, which makes it a crucial component of corporate governance. A breakdown or reduction in focus on this component could have serious legal, financial and/or reputational consequences for Diageo. You will act as business partner to the head of the business and its executive team to help them own, drive and handle their accountabilities related to 'doing business in the right way'. You will act as second line of defense to your market, overseeing risk indicators and potential red flags; looking for insights and root causes for breaches; as well as advising on and coordinating interventions to mitigate risks.

Top Accountabilities

Functional:
  • Influence and advise senior partners to maintain a strong tone-at-the-top, and reinforce accountability and awareness of the Business Integrity agenda.
  • Shape the market's culture of integrity, which includes proactive risk identification and developing plans to effectively embed our Code and policies through tailored engagement interventions.
  • Act as trusted advisor across all levels of the organization to drive compliant behavior and provide decision support on controls, risk and compliance matters.
  • In partnership with Business Integrity and the Learning & Development team, ensure proper delivery of risk-based training program on our Code, policies and standards, and monitor effectiveness of the same.
  • Oversee the market's breach management process (including publicizing channels, supporting investigations as assigned, undertaking remediation management, and evaluating the adequacy/consistency of breach consequences) and conduct a 'root cause analysis' to inform 'lessons learned' communications / engagement as needed.
  • Facilitate risk management activities such as the consolidation of KRIs, coordinate periodic governance forums (i.e. RMCs), and oversee automatic monitoring / analytics to enable simplified and proactive management of risk.
  • Use data related to compliance and the insights from such data to enable timely actions.
  • Facilitate market's governance (compliance, risk, controls), such as the tracking and reporting of remediations for identified deficiencies within agreed upon time periods, and supporting submissions to the ARC and FAC.
  • Inform relevant partners as to impact of new regulations related to compliance and partner with Global Controls Assurance (GCA) as to business change projects (e.g., processes, systems, route to market): GCA will instruct as to controls implications and changes to the control framework, and BI will consult with GCA as to local market nuances and other compliance implications
