Staff Accountant (CPA)

This position is full-time in office in Yardley, PA.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for monitoring and analyzing Spearhead’s financial documents and providing regular updates to management, helping to bridge the gap between numbers and strategy.
 
1. Financial Forecasting and Analysis:
·       Prepare financial forecasts/projections and budgets based on historical data, trends, and future business goals.
·       Conduct regular margin and revenue analyses to assess business performance. Model scenarios for business planning.
·       Provide financial insights to senior leadership to support long-term strategic planning. 
·       Build and maintain executive dashboards covering financial KPIs, cash flow, margin trends, and departmental performance.
·       Review and analyze monthly financial reports, including profit and loss (P&L), balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
·       Collaborate with operations, marketing, and sales to gather and interpret financial inputs.
·       Partner with the Chief of Staff to prepare board and leadership materials.
 
2. Reporting and Compliance
·       Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports including tax and legal requirements. 
·       Prepare reports including but not limited to booked sales, scorecard, departmental spend analysis, order close, trending and ad hoc reporting.
·       Ensure timely completion of all regulatory and tax filings.
·       Facilitate internal & external audits and ensure proper record-keeping in compliance with financial regulations.
 
3. Financial Close Process
·       Manage the end-of-month and end-of-year financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness (review journal entries, accruals, prepaids, etc.)
·       Ensure GAAP Compliance
·       Design & Enforce Internal Controls
 
4. Financial Analytics
·       Utilize accounting skills and financial expertise to analyze complex financial data and trends to provide actionable insights to leadership.
 
5. Process Improvement:
·       Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve the efficiency of the department. Document our existing finance procedures to understand other financial roles.
·       Recommend tools, templates, and improvements to streamline financial reporting and analytics
·       Coordinate cross-functional financial initiatives to ensure departments understand and act on financial metrics
 
6. Other Responsibilities:
·       Manage corporate insurance portfolio, including benchmarking policies annually, evaluating and recommending appropriate coverage levels, coordinating renewals, maintaining documentation, and serving as primary liaison with brokers to ensure risk exposure is adequately addressed and aligned with company operations and growth.
 

Qualifications:
Required Experience & Abilities: 
·       CPA Certification Required 
·       5 + of work experience in accounting in an international manufacturing or import capacity a MUST
·       5 years of forecasting and/or FP&A experience with strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close process
·       Proficient use of QuickBooks and other accounting software
·       Strong communication, collaboration, problem solving and prioritization skills.
·       Ability to interpret data and communicate actionable insights clearly to non-finance leaders.
·       Experience working in fast-paced, mid-sized companies or startups is preferred.
·       Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
 
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree – Accounting or Finance or similar field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
