Total Wine & More is seeking a Senior Associate Buyer, Wine to join our growing Import Wine Buying team in our Bethesda, MD office. You will drive and support sales and margin for select categories and/or supplier(s) of the wine business and ensure that the category metrics are achieved and tracked. You will also support the team in building assortment plans, selling tools, pricing, and promotional strategies along with inventory management to ensure that the selection is the best in the industry. You will manage the new item process, data entry/maintenance, compliance, and work with internal partners to meet our customer needs. You will own supplier relationships and should be skilled at communicating clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing while also tailoring communication style to different suppliers. You will report to the Senior Manager, Wine.

You will
  • Oversee new item process; set up, ongoing item maintenance, compliance, and supply chain partnership
  • Oversee product development, sampling, branding review, pricing, and item projections
  • Supplier management, inventory tracking, weekly category & supplier analysis
  • Conduct relevant business analysis, build chain-wide assortment plans, store allocation and support financial plans
  • Provide recommendations for increasing sales and margin using promotional and pricing levers
  • Support brand-specific marketing content and sales-support materials
  • Promote educational opportunities and in-store events with suppliers that promote a positive customer experience
  • Support supervisor on managing all aspects of the supplier relationship and/or independently manage assigned suppliers
  • Work cross-functionally, with both internal and external business partners, to successfully deliver financial goals and drive the execution of product introduction in our stores
  • Drive execution of sales and profitability, with pre-defined strategies, including a focus on in-stock management
  • Leverage interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders across the business
  • Support team with additional projects and strategies as needed, including process improvement and company initiatives
  • Must be able to prioritize many assignments simultaneously, and work under tight deadlines
  • Travel required


You will come with
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of experience with retail product buying or business management
  • Experience with relationship management, business ownership, and strategic planning
  • Wine knowledge or interest a plus
  • Language skills a plus - Spanish, Italian, Portuguese
  • Experience analyzing data and financials using advanced Excel functions (can maintain complex spreadsheets)
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office-Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook

The exempt compensation range for this position is 53,600-114,400 . Compensation may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills and/or experience.
